Elegant East Texas Spring Wedding at The Retreat at Sugar Hill
Alyssa and James (aka The Briscoes) tied the knot on Mother’s Day, and honestly? It was the sweetest day—even with the drizzle that pretty much never stopped. But it was that good kind of rain. The kind that makes everything look extra green, adds a little romance to the air, and makes the ceremony feel like something out of a movie.
They got married at The Retreat at Sugar Hill, and the ceremony space? A white, open-air gazebo situation that’s straight-up timeless. Crystal and her husband, the owners, were the kindest hosts—so welcoming and helpful the entire day.
Let’s talk about the looks for a second. Alyssa’s dress from Providence Place Bridal Boutique was one of those gowns that looks like it was made for slow spins and dramatic veil shots. Her beaded veil? Obsessed. Hair was done by Stay Salty Hair & Co. and it held up through humidity, wind, and all the moments. Fee Michelle Beauty gave her that soft glam look that photographed and filmed like a dream.
Dinner was tacos (yes, please), with actual seats and everything—not a backyard picnic. And the margaritas? 10/10. The whole reception felt like one big spring celebration—laid-back, beautiful, and totally them. And of course, they closed it out with a sparkler exit under the trees, because why not go out in a little glow?
I photographed and filmed the whole day, and there were so many moments I loved capturing—from getting ready in the bridal suite to their emotional first look and everything in between. Rain or not, this one was full of heart and really dang beautiful.
